This is Rumor Replay — a weekly report where we recap the latest Apple product rumors, analysis, and commentary. This week’s discussion includes the M5 and M6 iPad Pro models, Apple Health+ service, iPhone Fold, and more.
M5 iPad Pro coming this year, M6 planned too
According to a recent report by Mark Gurman, Apple is working on two new iPad Pro models.
The M5 iPad Pro could launch later this year and will be the first device to feature Apple’s M5 chip. The testing phase of the device is almost complete and production is also on track.
The launch of the M6 iPad Pro, on the other hand, is targeted for 2027. This model will include Apple’s in-house made cellular modem (likely name: C2).
My View:
Although Kuo had earlier said that the M5 would arrive in 2025, Gurman now seems more confident about its launch.
The arrival of the C2 modem in the M6 is great, but sadly, it will not be in the M5. Perhaps Apple wants to limit its new cellular modem to the iPhone only at first.
New Apple Health+ is coming – a health-tracking AI service
Another report by Gurman talks about an AI-powered health and coaching service from Apple. Earlier it was being considered as a separate app, but now it has been revealed that it will come as a new service inside the Health app – named Apple Health+.
It is codenamed Project Mulberry. It will mainly focus on food tracking and will give personalized suggestions to users to improve their health.
It can be launched in the spring of next year with iOS 19.4. However, Apple could also tease it at WWDC or this year’s Apple Watch event.
My View:
Apple’s services are constantly growing, and Health+ could become part of the Apple One bundle.
Although there is some skepticism in the market about Apple’s AI capabilities right now, making the Health app not just a display of data but also a giver of actionable advice could be a great move.
Is there a change in the telephoto zoom in the iPhone 17 Pro?
Earlier reports said that the iPhone 17 Pro would have an upgraded 48MP telephoto lens. But this week Majin Bu reported that the new lens could reduce the zoom from 5x to 3.5x.
Although the zoom will be less, the image quality will be better.
My View:
Users have liked the 5x zoom so far. Many may consider it too much, but overall, it has been a hit feature.
I doubt Apple will reduce this feature completely. Maybe 3.5x will come as an option, but 5x will definitely be there – and probably better than before.
The iPhone Fold’s screen will give an iPad-like experience
Leaker Digital Chat Station has given information related to the display of the iPhone Fold coming next year.
He said that the aspect ratio of the inner display of this foldable iPhone will be around 4:3, which will be the same as the iPad. The purpose of this is to give users an iPad-like screen experience.
My view
Users are already very excited about the iPhone Fold, and if its screen is like the iPad’s, then it can prove to be great in terms of productivity and multitasking.
This move of Apple can give tough competition to Samsung Foldables.
